What is the WeGoLook™.com service?
WeGoLook™.com is an online service that sends someone to make a few basic observations about a product, place, or thing, for individuals and industries who are unavailable to do so for themselves. WeGoLook™.com customers are better informed, avoid costly surprises, plus benefit from unbiased confirmation without having to travel. We can look at personal property, real estate and almost anything else.
Here are a few examples of what WeGoLook™.com can do:
• Look at an expensive item for sale on eBay or Craigslist
• Check for storm damage to a vacation home
• Check the condition of an out-of-state rent house
• Check the condition of a loved-one’s gravesite
• Look at an automobile for sale online or in a classified ad in another state
• Deliver an item purchased online to the shipper
If I become a WeGoLooker™, what will I be expected to do?
In general, you will be provided the location of item or property involved and contact information for the seller or owner, who will be expecting a call from you. You will quickly make contact and arrange to meet. Once there, you will take a few digital pictures, and answer a few simple questions off a checklist. You will then log on to your personal dashboard on our website, upload the pictures, and complete a short report.
Do I need any particular experience or expertise?
No. You do not need to be an expert of any kind and you will not be asked to give expert opinions about anything. You will simply be making basic lay observations.
Do I have to accept every assignment offered to me?
No. You are not required to accept any assignment offered to you.
How do I find out if there are any new assignments available to me?
When new orders are placed within your territory as defined by the ZIP codes you have provided us, you, along with others who work in the same area, may receive an email notifying you that new assignments may be available. You may then, if you so desire, login to your dashboard on the website at wegolook.com and view unassigned orders. The assignment will be given to the first WeGoLooker™ to accept it in this manner.
How much will I be paid?
We pay $25.00 and up per completed assignment. The amount offered for each assignment will be posted on the initial “Claim Order” screen in the Unassigned Orders section of your dashboard so that you can see it before actually claiming the order.
How will I be paid?
We prefer to pay through PayPal. Setting up a PayPal account is quick and easy.
Click here to get started. You may also invoice us and we will pay by check, or you may set up your account for ACH payments.
Do you also reimburse me for mileage or expenses?
No mileage or other expenses of any kind whatsoever will be paid or reimbursed to you without the prior written approval of WeGoLook™.com.
How do I identify myself to sellers and others whom I contact in connection with an assignment?
We refer to our representatives “WeGoLookers™” or simply “Lookers™.” Always identify yourself in that fashion, as a representative of WeGoLook™.com, and not as a “process server” or “notary” or any other occupation.
If the assignment requires me to observe the seller demonstrate that the item is in basic working order, what do I do?
If the item involved is a mechanical or electrical device, or something that performs some sort of movement or function, you will be required to ask the person showing you the item to briefly demonstrate that the item is in basic working order. We are talking about only the most basic functions of the item. You do not need to check or report on every single function that the item is capable of performing, unless the assignment specifically requires you to do so. It is understood that you are not an expert, and you will not perform any tests. For example, a high-end stereo receiver may have literally dozens of features and functions. You should not ask the seller to demonstrate each one. You should ask the seller to power-up the receiver and, for example, play a CD or tune in a radio station for a few seconds. If it is a watch, for example, you would check for accurate time and date (if applicable), that the second hand (if it has one) appears to be moving properly, and that the band or bracelet latch securely. You would never open the case. You do not need to check or report on every single function that the watch is capable of performing. If it is a vehicle, you should ask the person showing the vehicle to show you that the engine starts, that the basic electric options work, and so forth. You would ask the seller to demonstrate only the basic functions of the vehicle. However, do not perform or even go as a passenger on a test drive.
What do I need to know about taking pictures for the report?
Please always keep the underlying purpose of your assignment in mind when taking pictures for the report. A customer may be making important decisions based in part at least on the information you provide, including the information contained in the pictures that you take. For example, if there are one or more labels on the item, do your best to take pictures in which the text, numbers, and other markings thereon are clearly readable. We will be placing a small WeGoLook™ watermark in the bottom right corner on each photo that you upload, so please keep that in mind when framing each photo. If you observe chips, cracks, dents, or other defects, make sure that you document those observations with clear pictures. If a vehicle has dirty or stained upholstery, document it with clear pictures. While we do understand the limitations of some cameras and of photography in general, it is critical, nevertheless, that you do your best to document all of the information contained in your report, especially any observations of defects or inconsistencies, with clear photographs.
Do I need to check to make sure a seller actually owns the item that is for sale?
No. We do not check ownership or title to any item or property we observe.
Can the customer who ordered the report communicate with me directly?
No. You will never communicate directly with our customer. We do not provide our customers with your name or contact information, nor do we provide you the customer’s name and contact information. If you receive a call from a customer please notify us immediately.
Can I enter private property and/or go inside a building to perform the assignment and take pictures?
In general, if proper performance of the assignment requires it, and if the owner or other person in legal possession or control of the property consents, you may enter upon private property. For example, if you contact a seller at the number we have provided and the seller invites you into his or her home to observe the item in question, you may do so. However, unless the assignment specifically requires otherwise, we prefer that you stay on property open to the general public when performing the assignment and taking pictures. For example, if the assignment requires you to travel to a certain address to look at a house or other building or structure, but does not require you to contact the seller or tenant, all of your work on the assignment, including the taking of photographs, should be from the public right-of-way (e.g., sidewalk, etc.), unless you have obtained consent to enter the property. Always document and explain in your report when and how you obtained such consent.
What if the seller or other party doesn’t want anyone to enter their home or place of business to do the observation. Is there another option?
Yes. If the item to be inspected is moveable and the seller or person in possession agrees to transport it to another location, the observation can take place at any public location agreed upon (including your office). You should always offer this option.
How quickly am I required to process and complete assignments?
The act of gathering the information and taking the pictures necessary to complete a report is called an “observation.” If the assignment requires you to contact a seller or other party prior to making the observation, your must make your first attempt to contact that party within 4 business hours after acceptance of the assignment, and continue to make attempts as may be necessary to meet the timelines established herein. By “business hours” we mean a workday beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. in your time zone. If the assignment requires you to contact a seller or other party prior to making the observation, you must attempt to establish the earliest possible date and time to meet and observe the item or property, and you must make every reasonable and diligent effort to perform the observation no later than 48 consecutive calendar hours (not business hours) after acceptance of the assignment. If the assignment does not require prior contact with a seller or other party, you must make the observation as soon as reasonably possible but no later than 48 consecutive calendar hours after acceptance of the assignment. For all assignments, you must upload the pictures and the report to the website within 8 consecutive calendar hours of making the observation.
May I send someone else to perform all or any part of the assignment for me?
No, unless that person has also applied to become a WeGoLooker™ and been approved. In such a case, the person who will actually perform the assignment should be the one that logs in to the website and accepts the assignment.
Do you perform background investigations on potential WeGoLookers™?
Yes, we may. Please see the
Independent Contractor Agreement for details.
